Ok, most anglers don’t have the opportunity or luxury to fish every day as the pro’s do and for the most part only get to go on the week ends or when they have the opportunity. That being the case lets set the scene. It’s Wednesday evening and your talking to a couple of your fishing buddies about the upcoming weekend and of course the most important question always rises. “Where you goin...

I spend most of my waking days on the water. Each year it usually accounts to over 280 days out on the big pond. Whether it is with clients, pre fishing for a tournament, fishing a tournament, or just simply “play” fishing out on the water, I’m searching, learning, and refining my techniques and YES I do spend many of my days “off” just play fishing…..Don’t you?
Anyway, almost dail...

Is it the anticipation that sends your blood pressure over the roof, prior to the strike? Or the explosiveness of the strike itself that just captivates the minds of all anglers. Whether your preference is salt or fresh almost any angler will attest that “Top Water” if it can be done, would be the number one choice. Oh, and did I tell you that it really doesn’t matter what species your pursu...

I’m a firm believer that kids who are exposed to fishing grow up to become good stewards of our natural resources. Unfortunately, the long-standing tradition of a father teaching his son to fish has diminished because of parents’ loss of interest and today’s hectic lifestyles. And because kids have so many recreational choices – many of which are less wholesome – fishing is losing popul...

When you take a group of the best from any sport it’s the small things that can determine the outcome. In NASCAR it can be a three second faster pit stop, in football it could be the extra effort that gains the inch needed for a first down. In fishing, it could be the one extra cast you get from being organized.
Unlike many other sports there are no time outs in fishing. If you can’t find that...

Waterproof StowAway 3740
There’s no doubting that the way I fish today is a great deal different than when I was a kid. In the days of my youth, my grandfather and father would take me out in a small aluminum rowboat on both the inland lakes and Lake Michigan in Michigan’s southwestern Lower Peninsula; before they saved up enough money for an outboard motor, they would have me row spot to sp...

We’ve all seen the news about the downturn in the economic sector and unemployment. No where has that been more visible than in my home town, just outside of Detroit, Michigan. But the double digit unemployment rates this winter have led to one surprising revival: EVERYONE is ice fishing again. Since I began fishing Lake St. Clair, at no time has there been such a dramatic increase in participa...

Whether a newcomer to ice fishing or a seasoned veteran, you’ll find it rewarding to land a fish in winter conditions. Fighting a fish through a hole in the ice, in itself, is an experience that gets one’s adrenalin flowing. For the most part, you’re using light line and an ultra-short short rod, which magnifies the battle to a heightened state.
As an ice angler you need every advantage you ...

No matter what species I’m after; no matter where I was fishing them; no matter what time of year – Plano products have helped me become a better angler.
I put a lot of miles under my belt as a professional angler and I need tackle organizing systems, live bait systems, and travel totes that can take a pounding, yet are easy to use.
Tough, simple, useful
From within the storage compartment...

Fishing with outdoor writers is something I do with regularity, as part of my profession. It’s my job to lead the industry’s top story tellers to the fishing of a lifetime – most often the pursuit of smallmouth on the Great Lakes. Whether its magazine writers, TV show hosts, or Internet icons, they all anticipate coming to this part of the world and wrestling in smallmouth so big they look l...
