Doug brings the joy of the outdoors to over a million viewers each week on his TV series Doug Houston Outdoors. He has fished the Gulf of Mexico for over 40 years and has over two hundred career team tournaments to his credit. He held the BHA (Bow Hunters of Alabama) state record for wild turkey in 1993, as well as various other state salt water fishing records.
Doug's deep concern for the youth in the Mobile area led him to coordinate and direct the first annual Kids Wish'N To Go Fish'N event in 1997. Thirty children, who would have otherwise no get the opportunity to fish in the Gulf of Mexico, were paired with other community minded adults for a day of fishing.
Doug held various seminars along the Gulf Coast and his expertise and reputation grew, Doug was approached by various media outlets to provide communication, guidance and entertainment for the public's enjoyment.
As a freelance writer, Doug has written for several outdoor publications such as Saltwater Angler Magazine, Deep South Sportsman, Bayside Loafer, Alabama and Mississippi Outdoor Journals and Gulf Coast Outdoor Magazine.
Doug has served as a tournament judge for many years, and along with his successful TV show he is also involved in creating a new Gulf Coast Web Community for Southern Sportsman.
